Tatrazine is used as a contrast stain that is sometimes substituted for Orange G in animal histology.
Technovit® Glycol Methacrylate embedding kits were developed by Kulzer in Germany. They are most convenient to use, and offer the best embedding results.
- Technovit® GMA kits result in improved morphology, and allow for 1 micron serial sectioning.
- Technovit® 7100 GMA is less sensitive to oxygen during polymerisationmaking sealing of the moulds unnecessary.
- The polymerisation temperature never exceeds 40°C, making Technovit® a great choice for enzyme histochemistry.
- Consistent high quality of raw materials used produces permanent clear colourless blocks and reproducible results.
- 500mL Glycol methacrylate monomer
- 5 x 0.6g packs hardener I
- 40mL hardener II

Synonyms: Direct Blue 14; Niagra Blue 3B; Soluble in water <0.1mg/mL and 0.6mg/mL in ethanol. Trypan Blue is a blue acid dye with two azo chromophores. In biology it is widely used as a teratogenic ‐ vital stain. This relates to the H ‐ acid moieties, which are adsorbed onto protein.
UAR-EMS URANYL ACETATE REPLACEMENT STAIN
A non-radioactive substitute for uranyl acetate with comparable results. Avoids the tedious authorization, shipping and disposal issues involving uranyl acetate without sacrificing performance. Two lanthanide salts, samarium and gadolinium triacetate, effectively used for positive staining of plastic-embedded animal and plant tissues. Also for negative staining of macromolecules. Not recommended as a fixative.
This item is not a DG.
