LN2 Storage Dewars
Our storage Dewars boast extraordinary insulation, and therefore holding times, before LN2 replenishing is required. Best holding times are achieved by minimising the contact areas at the neck and support of the inner flask against the outer housing. Dewars with large neck openings have shorter holding times, but afford better access.
Consequently storage vessels (YD2), with the exception of the small 2 and 5 litre Dewars, are most used for the storage of semen or other specimen. These long storage time Dewars are not well suited for transport and they should not be tipped when full. Holding time is reduced with increased storage loads and the number of rods used to hold immersed specimens.
Remember that storage containers (except 2 and 5 litres), when full, must not be transported on a truck or tipped to decant some contents.
Our Dewar vessels are all aluminium, except where stated otherwise, making them light. This material has low specific heat (wastes less N2 when filling), and the natural Al oxide layer is extremely chemically inert. The design prevents denting of the outer housing.
Note: Total LN2 evaporation is the number of days from filling the Dewar, without decanting any, until all liquid N2 has dissipated.
DEWARS WITH HANDLES
These dewars are ideal for temporary storage of liquid gas in laboratory settings. These wide mouth cylindrical flasks have a convenient handle. These dewars can afford the increased portability, pouring efficiency and added protection. They provide safe extended temperature retention for specimens stored in liquid nitrogen, and thus have a broad range of applications in industrial, educational, and clinical fields.
- Aluminium metal housing extends full length of Dewar for added protection.

The top of the neck of the 30L storage Dewar has 6 grooves and stamped numbers for holding and identifying canisters.
The 30L storage Dewars come with a protective cover.
The 2L Dewar has 3 grooves and comes with 1 canister and a protective cover with backpack straps.
The 35L Dewar can hold up to 6 canisters. The canisters dimensions can be tailored to suit the application ‐ ask.
The 35L has a static evaporation rate (L/day) of < 0.12L/day.
The 5L dewar has a static holding time of 2‐3 days.
Each Dewar comes with one ladle and one canister (except the 2L Dewar; which only comes with one canister)

DEWAR VESSELS FOR TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
The 10L and the 30L transport and storage Dewars come with a protective cover.
The top of the neck has 6 grooves and stamped numbers for holding and identifying canisters, which can be bought separately.
The 30L and 50L Dewars are available with the following neck sizes: 50, 80, 125, 200mm.
The 50L and 100L Dewars are on a large base with 5 evenly spaced wheels for easy moving and greatest stability.
The 100L Dewars have 6 positions to accept hanging racks and/or ladles and canisters.

CANISTERS AND LADLE FOR DEWAR VESSELS
Stainless steel canisters are for sample storage in or just above liquid N2. The canisters have a coarse mesh at the bottom and a long handle for suspending within a Dewar vessel. Stainless steel is a very poor heat conductor at liquid N2 temperatures. Additionally these handles have a section of fibre glass to further reduce heat conduction.
Canister diameter is limited by the Dewar's neck size, and therefore larger canisters are not suited to smaller necks than designated.
Canisters have a holey bottom whereas a ladle has a solid bottom.
