Air-sensitive samples are protected by an air-free environment in the shuttle, which opens automatically once inside the instrument. This effectively protects the specimen, and allows accurate and precise measurements. The vacuum shuttle was developed for SEM applications, particularly in observing lithium sample, but is useful f0r any other specimen that are sensitive to the atmosphere.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe air-free environment is generated conveniently with a hand pump through the check-valve on the shuttle’s exterior.
