PORTABLE MONOCULAR MICROSCOPES
Simple but highly effective, quality microscopes which are most suitable for a large range of applications, including in the printing industry, mineralogy and geological field work (including logging of drill cores) industrial quality control, document examinations, textiles, IT, entomology and in many field applications.
Both models have a barrel diameter of 40mm and a length of 150mm to which is added the height of the acrylic skirt that maintains focus range and allows for (usually natural) illumination. The skirt adds 42mm to the length of the barrel of the M45 and 63mm to the M25.
Model No. indicates magnification, e.g. M25 = 25x magnification. Field of view is 2.5mm on the M45 and 4.5mm on the M25, however, when moving the eye across the ocular about twice that field is visible.
Measuring: These microscopes have a fine, built‐in scale which is graduated to 0.1mm per division in both models. Wholemm and fraction of inches are also indicated. In photos and viewing, these scales are always visible. Both microscopes have an upper focus ring for the scale and a lower one for the subject. When the scale is not desired, it is possible to defocus the scale and refocus the image using the lower focus ring. Image quality is scarcely affected. If the scale is never used is may be removed by loosening three small grub screws and lifting off the eyepiece. Sitting on a spring metal ring is a small mounted glass disc ‐ this contains the scale and has no lens function. The mounted disc can be removed and stored and the eyepiece assembly replaced for use without the measuring scale.
Please note: a stage micrometer is a perfect way to calibrate a microscope. A built in reticle scale as is provided in these microscopes is not very accurate, in fact we have found these to measure about six percent less. This measuring facility may be handy but for accurate work the scale needs to be calibrated.
Camera: A 350kb digital camera is available (see page O7). This simply replaces the rubber eye‐cup. The camera connects via a UBS2 to a laptop (or PC) to make quality photo micrographs in the field possible.
Priced to clear.
STEINHEIL POCKET MAGNIFIERS
Pocket size magnifier with a biconvex lens made by Peak of Japan. The sliding frame is designed to store the lens drawer‐like when not in use.
The Steinheil type lens provides excellent optics and makes these magnifiers suitable for preliminary inspections of microscopic specimens. It is lightweight and has excellent chromatic correction with a reasonably wide field of view.
This magnifier can frequently eliminate the use of bulky and heavier conventional magnifiers.
Size: 39 x 24 x 22mm, approximate weight: 20g.
Comes in a durable storage pouch.
Any discounts on the below items are strictly while stocks last. Additional units may be available for purchase at full retail price.
You will be notified in the event the discounted price is no longer available.
A handy 10x magnifier with a light source for inspection where illumination is insufficient. The light unit is made of metal, powerful, convenient and lightweight. Uses two C 1.5 volt batteries (not included). The crystal-clear lens is shielded by a hard plastic holder.
MICROSCOPE PEN, 50X
Useful for on the spot inspections in forensics, biology, document verification, printing, textile, art, jewellery, and microelectronics. Also serves as an inexpensive and simple to use microscope for science education and other labs. Powerful 50x optics; it clips to a shirt pocket and is easy to carry anywhere.
Dimensions: 135 x 10mm
