LM StarFrost Slides

These slides feature "wettable glass surfaces" as their key quality attribute, making them perfectly suited for blood smears. However, for examining tissue sections and cells, slides with specially "activated" glass surfaces are needed. Previously, laboratory staff had to extensively pre-treat these slides (e.g., with protein glycerin, gelatin, or Poly-L-Lysine).

The special coloured label field is resistant to all common laboratory solvents. When multiple StarFrost® slides are stored or stacked, the coloured coating acts as a spacer, preventing them from sticking together or getting scratched. This feature also reduces the likelihood of errors when using automated laboratory equipment.

The single-sided coloured label field, marked with our StarFrost® brand, clearly defines the optimal usage side, which corresponds to the wettable "air side" of float glass. This makes focusing on the substrate surface easier and even allows for identification of the correct side in the dark.

StarFrost® Advanced Adhesive coated slides were specifically developed for applications in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other demanding procedures. Tissue sections no longer float away, and staining intensity has been improved. The quality has been tested by several laboratories, especially cancer research institutes, using various equipment, including the Ventana Discovery XT/Benchmark and Leica Bond-Max systems.
